DOESN'T THE US PAY FOR ATHLETES AND TEAMS TO GO THE OLYMPICS?
Olympic team and athlete's training needs are covered in part by a sports National Governing Body (NGB). A qualifying team will get some small funding from the United States Olympic and Para-Olympic Committee. The gap has to be filled by funding from other sources. In an effort to allow athletes to focus on training to compete, the USA Field Hockey Foundation undertakes fundraising to provide for team and athlete expenses during the Olympic training and competition periods. Part of the Foundation's mission is to step in to help fill these gaps.
CAN I ORGANIZE A FUNDRAISING EVENT IN MY AREA?
Yes you can! For this effort to be successful, we need everyone who loves our sport to help us raise enough money to get the team well prepared and to Paris. There are lots of ways you can help raise money in your community. You can tell people about our two current national fundraisers, the Path2Paris 24 Campaign and the Charlotte Team raffle and ask them to help support these efforts.
You can host a fundraising event in your town, such as a dinner, concert or other event for friends and supporters. These can be to honor a specific hometown athlete or the team as a whole.
High School teams and Club Teams can get into the effort as well, hosting play-ins, score-a-thons, play days or clinics to raise money.
